I hope this isn't too twee, but I love Yann Tiersen's score in Amélie.  Ooh that rhymes.  I actually heard "Si tu n'étais pas là" today at lunch, sitting next to the carousel in Bryant Park.  Wolfing down a baguette.

I might as well let my francophile freak flag fly.

The whole reason, the raison d'être in fact, that I came to love it was that I heard the Third Eye Foundation remix of "La Dispute."  It was like I had heard the song somewhere before and couldn't put my finger on where but anyway it was really freaking me out and then I remembered.  This track is from the album entitled I Poo Poo on Your Juju.

Video: What was the first R-rated movie you saw (or were allowed to see)?

In the theater?  It was either From Dusk Till Dawn or Sleepers.  Or was it Brain Candy?  Those all came out in 1996 so when I was 15 or 16 and somehow got in without being carded.  Really, really lame.  I know.  I'm sorry.  I don't remember what the first rated-R VHS or BETA or laserdisc or late night cable movie I ever saw was.  In any case I'm sure it really poisoned my impressionable mind.  Cat People, perhaps?  A Fish Called Wanda?

The first NC-17 was Kids.

My mom was totally upset when she found out I had seen Dirty Dancing at my cousin's house.  That was my first PG-13.  It's so stupid because of course I didn't "get" it.  We rewinded the part with Patrick Swayze's butt like four times. 

First PG-13 in the theater?  The 1989 classic Look Who's Talking.  Possibly the subconscious origin of my cynical attitude towards human reproduction.
